Safety tips for chatting with strangers

Random video chat is more fun when you are relaxed. These habits cover what your camera might give away, how much to share and when, why money requests are always a red flag, and what to do if someone threatens you.

What is the single most useful safety habit?

Tap next the moment something feels off. You never owe a stranger an explanation, and someone new is always a tap away.

01

before you start

Look at your own preview first

Before your first match, glance at your own preview. Mail with your address, a uniform with a company logo, a school hoodie, a window with a street sign, a photo of your family on the wall: any of these can tell a stranger more than you meant to share. Turning your phone a few degrees usually fixes it.

Good lighting matters too, but for a different reason: it keeps the chat pleasant. Face a lamp, not a window.

02

sharing

Go slow with personal details

A great chat makes it tempting to swap everything. A simple rule helps: share what a friendly stranger on a train could know.

  1. 01

    Fine to share

Your first name, your country, what you like, what you are doing tonight.

  2. 02

    Wait a while

Social media handles, phone numbers, your city or neighbourhood.

  3. 03

    Never share

Your address, workplace, passwords, verification codes or bank details.

03

money

Anyone asking for money is a red flag

It does not matter how good the story is. A plane ticket, a sick relative, a phone bill, a gift card "just this once": people you meet on FaceFlow should never ask you for money, and you should never send it. Report the account and move on.

FaceFlow staff will never contact you through a chat to ask for payment, codes or passwords.

04

blackmail

If someone threatens you

Occasionally a scammer claims to have recorded a call and demands money to keep it private. Do not pay; paying almost always leads to more demands. Go silent, report and block them, save screenshots of what they sent, then write to [email protected]. If you feel at risk, contact your local police.

05

your comfort

Tap next without guilt

Your time is yours to spend however you like. If a chat feels uncomfortable, boring or just off, tap next. If someone breaks the community guidelines, report them so moderators can act. How the platform side works is explained on is FaceFlow safe.

And if a night of random chat leaves you more drained than entertained, close the tab. FaceFlow will still be here tomorrow.

Safety questions

How do I stay safe on random video chat?

Check what your camera shows, keep personal details private until you trust someone, never send money, and use next, report and block whenever you need to.

Should I give my Instagram or phone number to a match?

Take your time. Wait until you have talked a few times and feel comfortable, and never share it with someone who pushes for it.

What if someone asks me for money?

Do not send it. Report the account and tap next.

Someone says they recorded me. How should I respond?

With silence: no payment, no reply. Report and block, save screenshots, and email [email protected]. Contact local police if you feel unsafe.

Can I chat without showing my face?

Yes. Voice and text modes keep your camera off.
